The Global Esports Federation's inaugural flagship event took place in December 2021 and welcomed over 100 athletes from 40 nations and territories to compete live in Singapore. The GEF made history in the summer of 2022 with the staging of the first-ever Commonwealth Esports Championships alongside the Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022. We are set to welcome over 300 athletes from 65 nations and territories in the second Global Esports Games in Istanbul this December. We look forward to seeing you there! #worldconnected

A pilot video gaming championship will be held at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer. It is the first of its kind to be held at the Commonwealth Games, with organisers hoping gaming - known as esports - will draw in a younger audience. The Opening Ceremony of the inaugural Global Esports Games in Singapore featured a dynamic blend of live and virtual experiences that kept esports fans across the metaverse entertained. The ceremony kicked off with a trailer that featured some of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks with a special added touch: the three titles contested at the GEG: Dota 2, Street Fighter V Championship Edition and eFootball 2022.
