Sport and esports unite in Chile’s capital for the upcoming Panam Games
Preparations for the first-ever Pan American Esports Championships 2023 (PEC23) continue to ramp up as the Global Esports Federation returns to Santiago, Chile, to join the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games Chefs de Mission Seminar.
The GEF delegation led by Dr Melita N. Moore, GEF Board Member & Chair of the PEC23 Coordination Commission, and Mario Cilenti, GEF’s Executive Director, met with the 41 nations across the Americas, discussing details about the upcoming Santiago 2023 and PEC23.
“It’s been a remarkable moment for the Global Esports Federation to be present at the Santiago 2023 Chefs de Mission Seminar. The visionary support of Panam Sports and the collaborative spirit of the National Olympic Committees has been truly incredible,” expressed Dr Melita. “We are proud to contribute to the historic development of esports in this diverse continent.”
The GEF, together with Panam Sports, reviewed production aspects of the inaugural PEC23, and hosted a workshop for national representatives to explore the detailed plans.
“Presenting PEC23 to the Americas together with our esports community is a major milestone. The immersive experiences we are creating for the spectators in Santiago and the youth in this amazing continent will be highlighted at the first-ever Pan American Esports Championships,” Mario added.
The week’s seminar and workshops marked yet another monumental step forward in preparing for the PEC23 following the first detailed Technical Visit in November last year.
