Presenting esports' transformative power, uniting inclusive communities
The Global Esports Federation proudly presented ‘Fit for Life Day’ during the inaugural Pan American Esports Championships at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
This visionary initiative underscores the transformative power of esports, promoting mental health and wellness and societal inclusivity within our global communities.
The activation at the National Stadium Park in Chile demonstrates GEF’s tangible support for UNESCO's flagship 'Fit for Life' program, showcasing the first-ever ‘Fit for Life Day’ as part of #PEC23. The afternoon kicked off with a video message from Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences at UNESCO, emphasizing sports as a key driver for inclusivity, peace, and societal resilience.
This remarkable event saw active participation from over 400 students representing schools across Santiago, as well as enthusiastic fans at the Main Stage in the National Stadium Park. The children and fans proudly sported GEF’s ‘Fit for Life’ tees, symbolizing their dedication to celebrating sports and physical activity in our lives.
A highlight of the event was the special guest appearance by Chilean Volleyball stars Marco Alfonso Grimalt Krough and Esteban Grimalt Fuster, who shared their wisdom and experiences, highlighting the significance of balancing physical fitness and active living.
As an integral part of this endeavor, GEF’s vibrant awareness campaign surrounding ‘Fit for Life Day’ witnessed the GEF #worldconnected community sharing inspiring video testimonials from around the world, vividly illustrating the profound impact of esports on physical well-being and its role in promoting equality, empowerment, and inclusivity.
‘Fit for Life Day’ solidifies GEF's commitment to contributing to a healthier, more inclusive, and socially equitable community through esports. The organization expressed its heartfelt gratitude to UNESCO and all partners for their support in making this day a momentous celebration of awareness and progress.
